Dave Schimmel is getting shoved aside. He will only have a very minor
role. Will get support from data systems support.

Continuing resolution means we're locked into current spending, which is bad for
current projects and priorities can't shift. Phil will get cut 
out of funding, but not leadership.

Holly Rushmeyer (Yale) submitted proposal to for Ecosystem Hyperspectral imaging
more microscopy. a bit of geology. Approached to join them. More like medical imaging.

There was someone doing Hyperspectral imaging of planets to look for water. He moved.

Dave is an ecologist working with JPL engineers. He saw they were failing and bbrought the collaborative 
element to SBG. Wonce they got the funding, they cut Dave out of leadership too.

We need open source and on demand tools for people, but most users won't have the computational
capacity to process everything. If we had the tools available , folks 
can do their own processing as needed. JPL/NASA will never have funding to make all 
the desired products.
