During measurements, leaves were placed on a flat neoprene plate (reflectance < 5%) to minimise background reflection of light transmitted through the leaves. Leaf spectra were calibrated to reflectance using reflected radiance from a Spectralon panel. Reflectance spectra were resampled from the original SR-3500 bands (1024) to a resolution of 1 nm and truncated to a 400-2500 nm interval using cubic spline interpolation.
